MEMBERSHIP

Rolling Membership Begins on September 1st

The members voted at the SCECA Conference on Saturday, January 27, 2007 to pass the proposal of SCECA going to a rolling membership.  The rolling membership will begin on September 1, 2007.  The proposal states that the membership year will be comprised of 12 calendar months beginning with the time of application for membership after September 1, 2007.  This simply means that you are a member for 12 calendar months from the time of your application.

Please be aware that for the first year, ALL membership applications must go through the SCECA Business Manager, Becky Wardlaw, and not through the SECA office.  The Business Manager will process the membership application and possibly be able to refund the SECA portion of the dues as long as there is no break in service.  This will apply to the 2007-2008 applications only.  Once your membership application is processed the Business Manager will mail your membership card. If your membership is part of the conference registration, your membership card will be in your registration packet. It is very important that you fill in the membership application with your home address, home telephone number, and home email address.  If you do not have a home email address, please included your school address.  Those without an email address will be mailed to individuals.

Your mailing label will have your personal membership expiration date printed on the label beside your name.  The Business Manager will notify you 30 days before your membership expiration that it is time to renew your membership.  This will be done electronically if we have your email address.  Be aware that some school districts block certain servers and the Business Manager may not be able to contact you electronically.

Membership in SCECA entitles you to a membership in the Southern Early Childhood Association (SECA).  You will receive the SECA Reporter newsletter and Dimensions, an educational magazine, throughout the year.

If you have any questions about rolling membership or have other concerns related to your membership, don’t hesitate to contact the Business Manager, Becky Wardlaw at rwardlaw@sc.rr.com or 803-960-0323.
